As we’re in a rainy season, and heading towards spring, you might notice more bug activity than usual. But why are bugs more visible when it rains?
Like us, bugs need water to live, so they can come out during this time to access water. At the same time, if there’s flooding where they live, they may travel elsewhere for shelter, such as into homes. Many insects like damp, dark places, which are more common when everything is humid.
You may also look around and see worms and snails around your garden or sidewalks. These critters live in the soil, but when the soil gets overwhelmed with rain, they come aboveground so they’re able to breathe.
Have you seen more bugs this week? Feel free to let us know, and as always, comment any questions you might have. Have a good one!
